Manufactured by the J. Stevens Arms Co., and has a July 2, 1907 patent. Manufactured between 1907 and 1920 when the company was bought out by Savage Arms. Last owned by Mr. M. C. G. Bebee, who was a Dental Surgeon in Owen Sound, Grey County. His wife, Kathleen Bebee, was a relation of Lt. Col. George D. McLauchlan of Owen Sound and had settled his estate. George was one of the sons of Scottish-born James McLauchlan, who came to Williamsford and Owen Sound in the 1850s, and who had also spent a couple of years in New Orleans, just prior to the American Civil War. The McLauchlans returned to Owen Sound. James McLauchlan was a confectioner and baker by trade, and eventually his business became James McLauchlan & Sons and sold products across the Dominion. |
