Description Crescent-shaped, gold and seed pearl brooch. There is a tiny mark impressed on the back, perhaps "10K". The pinstem is hinged, and intact.
Makers mark The back side has an impressed mark that looks somewhat like "OK" (perhaps a carat mark?)
Provenance Manufacturer unknown. Dates to 1916. It belonged to Pearl Alma McAfee (née Breadner), who wore it at her wedding on June 14, 1916, in Euphrasia Township, Grey County. She married Robert John McAfee. After their wedding, the couple return to the McAfee family farm, which was established in 1858 and located at Lot 17, Concession 7, in Euphrasia Township. She lived there for much of her life, but retired to Meaford. She was a resident of the Meaford Nursing Home when she died on March 27, 1989, at the age of 95. She is buried in Markdale Cemetery, though other Breadners are buried at the Temple Hill Cemetery in the former Euphrasia Township. This item was last owned by Iola Abood.
