Description Cast bronze figure of Joan of Arc standing on a pedestal base. There is a helmet from a suit of armour on a pair of gauntlets beside her left foot. Joan is wearing armour and is holding a sword to her chest with overclasped hands. She is looking slightly upward as if receiving heavenly instruction. On the front of the pedestal is a crest with an upturned sword, a crown at its tip, flanked by two fleurs-de-lis. There are fleurs-de-lis on Joan's skirt and she has a chin-length bobbed hairstyle.
Provenance The cast bronze figure belonged to Dr. and Mrs. Harding and Stella (Bowlby) Priest of Owen Sound, Ontario, who were married in 1921. The couple met during the Great War, while they were both serving in the military. The figure was likely made c. 1920?
