Description Framed Currier & Ives hand-painted lithographic print, titled "Summer", c.1870. The print depicts a head and shoulders portrait of a young woman, who has various plants, flowers on her head and shoulders, as she represents the spirit of summer. The print has been hand-coloured with blue for the woman's dress and eyes. The print is framed under glass. The frame is a dappled dark brown. See Related for other Currier & Ives prints.

Provenance This print was one of a series of seasonal prints published by Currier & Ives of 152 Nassau Street, New York, circa 1870. The print was formerly owned by the McElheron family who farmed in Sydenham Township, Grey County. Neil and Hugh McElheron originated from Ireland and are related to the McClartys. The McElherons spent some time in the United States before they moved to Grey County.
