Description Small box with a hinged lid, likely a snuff box. The detailed decoration on the lid depicts the head of a 19th-century man, with one eye peeking out from behind the visor of his cap. It appears to be made of lacquered papier-mache. It has a shiny black finish. No maker's label or identification observed. Its round shape suggests that it may have been intended as a pocket item. A single long hinge secures the lid, which is colourful. The detail appears to be a transfer print. The interior is plain.
