Description Many food ration booklets were printed in Owen Sound, Grey County, starting in 1941. Rationing was in effect from 1942-1946 (and formally ended in 1947) to conserve food and gasoline amongst the civilian population so that they could ensure that there was enough for teh war effort (for military use to defend the country). The last Canadian ration books were produced in 1946.
Provenance Printed by the Canadian Government. Issued to Francis Edgar Michael of RR 6, Owen Sound (Sydenham Township) between 1942 and 1946. Passed on to his son, Stanley Michael.
