Object Name Weight, Balance
Lexicon category 5: T&E For Science & Technology
Made Unknown
Place of Origin Unknown
Description Apothecary's two ounce-sized brass weight. It is tall, shaped like a chess piece with a tapered middle and rounded bottom. It has an angular crown with a hole so it can be suspended from a hook. The underside has a brushed finish and a dimple which probably regulates its weight. "2 oz" is stamped on the flat top of the weight, and a crown above "VR 7" (the maker's mark) is stamped on the shoulder. The brass is a little tarnished but in good condition.
Provenance Unknown manufacturer and provenance. Last owned by Roland Ellinghausen (b. 1910 - d. 1981), an Owen Sound druggist.
