Description ELITE MFG. cast-iron automobile bumper jack. Marked "ELITE MFG. ASHLAND O PAT OCT 8, 1911". Approximately seventeen inches high when compressed. Ratchet-style adjustment. Rectangular base appears to be slightly distorted. The upright has diagonal elliptical holes. Cotter pin at the top. "3J" is also cast.
Makers mark Cast lettering
"ELITE MFG. ASHLAND O PAT OCT 8, 1911" and "3J"
Provenance Manufactured by the Elite Manufacturing company of Ashland, in the United States. Patented on October 8, 1911. This item was likely used in Ontario. It last belonged to David and Jill Livingston, who moved to Grey County from Toronto with their collection fo vintage artifacts.
