Description This is a folk art model of a shanty, depicting the type of first settler's home in Grey County. It is wooden, with a nailed construction. The log cabin style had round-ended logs. There is a plain door frame and a four-grooved door. There are no windows. The roof is made with hollowed-out log halves, set in opposing directions so that the roof drains? The wood has a brown stain applied to it.
Provenance This model was made by John Capel (date unknown), a retired Industrial Arts teacher who had taught at Dufferin School, in Owen Sound, Grey County.
