Description Wooden, hand-held MONARCH stereoscope (a) with sliding cross piece (b) that has metal brackets which holds stereoviews. Wooden turned handle is on underside. Folds up via a hinge for putting stereoscope down or away. Pat. April 12, 1904 impressed into the wood. The circular maker's mark includes a male deer.
Makers mark Circular maker's mark includes a deer stag motif. "PAT'D APR 12 '04" [1904] is impressed into the wood.
Provenance Manufactured in Meadville, Pennsylvannia by the Keystone View Company (patented April 12, 1904). Used by the McCarter family, and last owned by Mrs. E. L. McCarter (née _______) of Owen Sound, Grey County.
