Description An oil portrait of William Q. Brown [d. 1902, age 62], of Sarawak Township, Grey County (he lived very close to Owen Sound, Grey County). The sitter is a bearded man, wearing a suit coat. It is a head and shoulders portrait. The background is painted dark, with some lightness around his head and shoulders. The artist was John W. Thompson of Owen Sound. The portrait was painted in the late 19th-century.
Provenance Painted in the late 19th-century by John W. Thompson of Owen Sound. This item was originally owned by William Q. Brown. It was later inherited (in 1902) by George and Florence Ferguson. Mrs. Ferguson (nee Florence Brown) was William's daughter.
