Description MAPLE LEAF BRAND "Sugar Corn" labelled can, c. 1908. The lithographed paper label has green / yellow / red / black printing, an a triple maple leaf illustration. It also has a trademark with a green maple leaf, and a Canadian Canners (Hamilton, Canada) mark. The Delhi Fruit and Vegetable Canning Co., Delhi, Ontario is also on the label. The top end has an intentional central hole, and the can is opened up, but the top was retained.
Makers mark Printed in tiny lettering at the bottom margin of the label: "SOUTHAM PTG & LITHO CO LONDON ONT." (printer of the label)
The can's label has the round Canadian Cannes Limited Hamilton, Canada mark and a "Consumers Guarantee" trademark.
Provenance Found inside a residential wall during renovations to a home in Owen Sound, Grey County. It was found with several other cans.

A printed notation of "08" that suggests it may have been packed in September of 1908. As it was packed in either Hamilton, Ontario or Delhi, Ontario, by the Delhi Fruit and Vegetable Canning Co. Limited, it would have been shipped to Owen Sound by train and sold in a grocery store.

The Southam Printing and Lithography company of London, Ontario, printed the labels for the company.
