GARDEN CITY BRAND "Refugee Beans" labelled can. The metal top of the can is perforated centrally, and partially cut and lifted up. The lithographed label has red and blue and yellow and white printing. It depicts a blond boy with a wide brimmed hat. The other side has an illustration of green beans inside a laurel.
Found inside a residential wall during renovations to a home in Owen Sound, Grey County. It was found with several other cans of the c.1908-1928 time period.
As it was packed in St. Catharines, Ontario, by the Garden City Canning Co., it would have been shipped to Owen Sound by train, and sold in a grocery store.
