This tan-coloured khaki service cap was a summer uniform hat worn by a C.W.A.C., during the Second World War Canadian Women's Army Corps (C.W.A.C.) khaki cap. It was manufactured in 1943, and likely was worn until 1946. The exterior khaki is a finely-woven, lightweight wool. The peaked cap or hat is a Size 7, and has a yellow stencilled label identifying it as a "T. Eaton Co. Regd" item. The cap has a flat-topped crown, and the high front is stiffened inside with cardboard. There are flaps, turned up, that are attached by a 1.5 cm deep band across the top. The crown has three vent holes with metal gromettes. The front has a metal insignia piece with a maple leaf and "CANADIAN WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS". There is an adjustable leather chin strap attached at either side of the bottom crown, with gold-coloured "CANADA" buttons. There is a 7 cm deep stiff, flat brim. The interior has a leather band with a satin ribbon at the centre back, and a brown satin lining. The interior has a sewn-on label identifying the woman it was issued to: "Henry A. M. / W. 22615" [=Miss A. May Henry].
