A machine-made ribbon attached to another plain blue ribbon, which makes a long bookmark.
The smaller bookmark comes to a point at the bottom with a gold tassel at the point.
The smaller bookmark reads:
"May your birthday be happy
May hope be with soft propitious ray,
Be thine to fondly cheer
Ne'er may the sunshine of this day
Be clouded with a tear."
In the centre of the text is an image of a purple lily and at the bottom of the ribbon is a purple/red/green bird on a branch with purple blossoms.

Previously owned by Amy Kennedy who resided at Inglis Falls, in Derby Township, Grey County, and also at Owen Sound, Ontario. She was descended from Mr. and Mrs. Peter Inglis through her mother, Helen (Mrs. Thomas) Kennedy, and also from the Wm. & Agnes (Stark) Kennedy family of Owen Sound.
The item has a 19th-century, Victorian appearance to it.
Her father died in 1878.
