Description All-metal long triangular linked chain for measuring (plumbing) well depths (well digging equipment). No maker's identification present. The donor estimated that it weighs about 100 pounds. It is like a heavy chain, with long links. The overall length is reportedly 55 feet. One end has a fenestrated "ball" on it. When the links are folded up for storage, the item has a triangular appearance.
Provenance Unknown. Last owned by Harold Lendon, an Owen Sound, Grey County lawyer who obtained it at a garage sale in 1999.
