Description Hand-forged iron traveller. This traveller is blacksmith-made, but has no maker's identification. It has a scored mark (on both sides) on the ring (near one spoke). The two spokes that join its hub are lap-welded to the ring.

Provenance Unknown, but likely used somewhere in Ontario. John Flick of Markdale, Grey County purchased it at an auction (date and location unknown).

Function A hand-held device used by a wheelwright to measure for the iron strip needed for a wheel rim, by counting the distance needed with the traveller's revolutions. They were also sometimes called "Tire Measuring Wheels".
