Description |
Man's olive-green, double-breasted vest with a design of olive-coloured vines and red roses. It has seven cloth-covered buttons down the front on each side, which fasten down the lapels. The vest does not fasten shut. There is a pocket on each side, neither of which have flaps. There is a non-original white piece of cotton twill sewn to the interior nape, with "Gerda" written on it in black ink. The back is made of brown cotton, with two green cotton ties at the centre. The interior lining is made of white cotton. |

Manufacturer unknown. Belonged to Nathaniel Grierson. He was born in 1822 and lived on Lot 54-56 of Concession 3, SDR in Bentinck Township, Grey County. His wife, Isabella Grierson, was born in 1825 and died in 1898. He died in 1886. Last owned by his great-grandson, Fred Grierson of Hanover, Grey County. |
