The manufacturer, the Muir Cap Co. of Toronto, likely had various militia outfitting contracts. Grey Roots Museum has a peaked cap that they made (early 20th-c), used by someone in the 31st Grey Regiment and the interior mark has the word CONTRACT present. This hat-making company was established in ---- . During the Second World War, they made some officer's caps (one was worn by an Australian officer, so they likely had international contracts), and they also made RCAF caps. In 2009, there is still a Muir Cap & Regalia company in existence. |
