The name of Mrs. Austin Brown is recorded on a 1937 Kilsyth Women's Institute name quilt that is now kept at Grey Roots Museum. Mrs. Brown's maiden name was ____________. They were married in 1__. Austin Brown and other members of the Kilsyth Loyal Orange Lodge 540 are shown in a 1950 image in the Derby Twp. history book. Austin Brown later resided at 2164 4th Ave. West, Owen Sound. He owned a very unusual 18th-century counterfeit coin detecting device that was made by A. Wilkinson of Ormskirk (near Liverpool). He said that the device has also been used for weighing gold in the late 19th-century during the Klondike gold rush. |
