Circa 1904, James Lowe was making wooden furniture and he was likely a cabinetmaker by trade. Two examples of his work are in the Grey Roots Collection. They were formerly used at Owen Sound in the Ryan Bros. store or the first McKay Bros. store, and then were used for a long time at the second McKay Bros. Limited store, in the former G.B. Ryan / Ryan Bros. location along main street. They are deep cabinets, that were useful for storing and retailing hats. In the 1901 census, James Lowe was at __________.
