Notes |
J. F. McCallum was a druggist in Owen Sound in the 1890s. His drug store was located along the east side of Poulett St. (main street), where the Bank of Montreal was located in 1974. An 1894 source listed J. F. McCallum's drugstore as being established in 1885. An 1890s streetscape image of main street includes the front of the J. F. McCallum drugstore (see 1955.011.013 at the Grey County Archives). Did he change from having a drugstore business to getting into the printing trade? Or did a relative of his? There was a McCallum & Pratt printers business at Owen Sound circa 1900. There was a McCallum & Co. printing company circa 1906 (see the RBW history book) that was sold in 1907 to Richardson, Bond & Wright.
