Notes |
"On October 1, 1901, Ralph Noble bought the business for shoeing horses and repairing sleighs from J. Brookbank. Soon buggies were being built, then sleighs and wagons. The sleighs were patterned with bevelled runners, using spring steel which wore much better than the former ones. Another great improvement was the oscillating knee, which was added to each runner. Many of the sleighs were sold to Northern Ontario for hauling logs. In 1944 Ralph's son Bernie took over the business. That year, 102 sleighs were manufactured. In 1950, a set sold for $125. Wagons with rubber tires were in demand after WWII. The last sleighs and wagons were built in 1956". They also had mass-produced wagon wheels and wagon gears. Bernie's son Ralph continued the business, but instead it was "Ralph Noble & Sons Truck Bodies & Repairs". |
