Gibraltar is situated in the first nine or ten lots in Concessions 4 and 5, on either side of the fourth line of what was formerly Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario. At the end of the 19th-century, the community had two churches, a post office, a blacksmith shop, and a school (all of these buildings were situated in the fifth concession. The Presbyterian Church was built in 1880. The last service held there was in 1962, and the building was purchased in 1976 and relocated to another area.
