Description |
Man's dress coat. Early period. This is a black cloth coat with a notched lapel and a major seam running around its waist. There are three cloth covered buttons in the front, two on each cuff, and two in the back. Rising up from the buttons in the back are three seams, which reach to either shoulder and the collar. An extra buttonhole is in the lapel, likely for ornamental purposes (such as holding a flower). Below the waist seam, a tail of moderate length extends in two main panels. |
Provenance |
Likely used/worn by William J. McFaul (d. 1917, age 89), or by Alexander Wesley McFaul (1859-1949) of Owen Sound, Ontario. Next was owned by R. C. McFaul, until 1965, and then it was owned by Winnifred McFaul (neé King) of Owen Sound. |
