Description |
White painted baby bassinet in two parts - basket and stand/legs. Rolling castors at the feet. Pink interior lining (dates to about 1969) and original lace. White paint is not original to the piece. |
Provenance |
Manufacturer unknown. May have been second-hand when the Taylor family of Owen Sound acquired it, but the Taylor family has used it for multiple generations of babies over 118 years. The first Taylor to use it was David Creighton Taylor II who was born in 1900 (Roma Taylor's father-in-law). Her husband, was David Creighton Taylor III, born 1931 and it was used for him. Her son is David Creighton Taylor IV who also used it. Another child of Roma's, born in 1969, was supposed to be a girl, so Roma redid the lining at that time in pink, but the lace is original to the piece (the baby turned out to be a boy). Roma thinks it was repainted at some point. |
