Printer's rectangular typemetal casting advertising Amerock Colonial Cabinet Hardware. The heavy "cut" has a red paper shim affixed to it. The cut is not mounted on a wooden block, but is a solidly cast item. The "cut" item is not engraved or cut by hand. The design has an illustration of the hinges and handles produced by the Amerock company. The cut was likely used multiple times. |
Provenance |
Manufacturer unknown, but likely made in the United States. Item belonged to The Knight Press of Meaford, Grey County, between 1951 and 1970. Item's advertisement is for a Meaford, Grey County metal-working industry called "Amerock Limited", which was a hardware-manufacturing factory (and was a Canadian branch of a U.S. company, the American Cabinet Hardware Corporation, of Rockford, Illinois). The Amerock company no longer exists: it opened in Meaford on November 2, 1951, and closed in November of 1990. Item was last owned by Dick Knight of Meaford, Grey County. |
