Description |
This is a carved wood log-style barn and farm animals set. The barnyard animals and farm pump models were originally glued to the green-painted cloth area of the barnyard, but are now loose. The gate, fence and barn are made out of cedar wood. The barn's doors are hinged so that they can be opened. There is a glass window. The eighteen carved animals are made out of basswood, and most of them are stained. The two horses have a darker stain, while the water pump and its trough and three of the chicks have no stain. One horse has a brown mane and tail, while the other has black ones. There is one cow, one rooster, two hens, five chicks, four piglets, and a sow. The poultry have wire feet, so they do not stand up well on their own. |
Provenance |
This barnyard set was hand-made prior to 1971 by Earl Cole of Keppel Township, Grey County. |
