Description |
"Star" oil heater. The base is a cast piece of metal with four legs 7cm long and a ornamental base of flowers and volutes. The oil container which rest on the base has embossed volutes and tongue and dart moulding. There is a lid on the upper surface to fill the container. At an oblique angle to this is a knob for variable setting for heat. Mounted on the container is a cylindrical metal encased wick. On the bottom of the case is embossed: STAR HEATER Patents JAN 20 91 JUNE 21 91 AUG 11 91 DEC 27 91 JULY 11 93 OCT 10 93 M.B. CO. N.Y. Encasing is a cylindrical tin grill with a 2cm. wide perforated band. On top of this rests a 42 cm. high ornamental cylinder chimney which radiates the heat. It has around the bottom area a series of six, 12 pointed star designs and a small access door. The door hinges to the right and has a clasp to the left. Both the door and the stars originally had mica windows. In the middle of the chimney is a series of 8 triple concentric circles. Under the top are 8 of the 12 pointed stars. On the top is a 36 point arabesque. |
