Description |
Pierced, ornamental souvenir dish. Its finish has a green and orange colouration, and a transfer-printed illustration of the main street of Owen Sound. The underside has a faint, bluish-green, transfer-printed maker's mark of a crown with "VICTORIA" above it, and "AUSTRIA" below it. The dish is asymetrical, and has an oval base ring. The piercing has six voids in it, side-by-side, at the right of the top edge. The top edge area also has some molded decor. The rim of the dish is outlined in black paint. The transfer print is captioned "FRONT STREET, OWEN SOUND". It depicts Owen Sound's main street, looking southwards from Division Street (now 10th Street). At the left is the Bank of Hamilton building. There is a stage on the street, and a horse-drawn wagon turning the corner. |
