Description |
Wheel-like "spooler" (yarn winder device, reel). It has a wooden-knob, and is made of black-finished metal. It clamps onto a flat wooden board, and would be turned by the user's right hand. There are four rounded metal areas below the crank handle. |

Made by the Lamb Family Knitting Machine Manufacturing Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. Dates to 1868. Belonged to the family of John and Elizabeth Rendall (née Brown). The Brown family originally came from the Orkney Islands, off Scotland, and settled on a farm in the 1850s. It was located on Lot 27, Concession 7 in Collingwood Township, Grey County. This item was found there, in Annie Rendall's Estate. One of the family's daughters, Mary Rendall, was still using it circa 1917. It was found along with a 1917 letter addressed to her. Last owned by Sandra Stevenson of Owen Sound, Grey County. |
