Provenance |
Printed for or by J. K. McLauchlan, who established a summer resort park at Balmy Beach, near Owen Sound, Grey County, which became known as the King's Royal Hotel park when the hotel was built (1900-1901). His full name was Joseph Kent McLauchlan. Circa 1900, there were excursions to Balmy Beach from Owen Sound, as the park had a wharf where a ferry could call. J. K. McLauchlan's brother, John H. McLauchlan, had purchased 70 acres of land and started McLauchlan Park there c. 1899 and there was a Deed of Land between the two brothers in 1900. The image shows John Henry "Jack" McLauchlan. Provenance unknown. Donated at some point to the Prince Albert Heritage Museum, which sent it to Grey County in 1987. |
