Description |
An Orangeman's Parade Collar, that has burgundy velvet on the front side, with gold bullion fringe and braid. There four sequinned raised stars and two metal appliques (King William of Orange on his horse, and a 2 1/2 arched pillar and symbols piece). A ruched round velvet joining piece at the bottom also has a sequinned star. The backing piece is made of faux shiny black leather (coated fabric). No labels are present. |
Provenance |
Very likely made by the Dominion Regalia Co. Limited. Owned/used by Charles Maurice Underwood (perhaps may have first belonged to his father, John J. Underwood?). In 1921, Maurice was an implement agent and Motor Mechanic in Owen Sound and was residing with his parents at 1140 2nd Avenue West. That year, he married Edna Bella Van Wyck. In 1924, Maurice and Edna moved to Colgate, Saskatchewan. They were there in 1930, during the Great Depression. Later on in the thirties they moved to Bruce County, near Burgoyne, where he operated a garage business for 25 years. He died in 1974. The item was last owned by Andy Underwood of Owen Sound. |
