Description |
Black felt patch with a ribbon at the top with gold embroidery inside it that reads "Owen Sound" and at the bottom "Public Utilities". In the centre is Owen Sound's 1920-1967 coat of arms showing two Indigenous men. One is sitting on a log and looking at a ship in the water, the other is standing with a bow. Under the crest is a ribbon with "Arbour Virga Fuit" inside it. This translates to: 'as the twig is bent so grows the tree.' |
Provenance |
Made for the City of Owen Sound's Public Utilities staff between 1920 and 1967 (the City adopted a new coat of arms in 1967). Unknown manufacturer. It looks unused. Last owned by Ron Burrell of Owen Sound. He likely purchased it at auction or through a dealer. |
