Description |
Aqua-coloured TAYLOR & PRINGLE CO. LTD. bottle (post-1901). Its clear aqua-coloured pressed glass does not have a label on it. It has molded lettering and the entwined T&P registered trademark. It has a crown top style lip (invented c. 1892). |
Provenance |
This bottle was found at Lot 7-8, Concession 3, Sarawak Township, Grey County. The glass factory of origin is unknown. The glass factory would have made it for the Taylor & Pringle company, which was a bottling company in Owen Sound, and would have been shipped to that town, as Owen Sound did not have a bottle glass factory. The Taylor & Pringle firm incorporated in 1901. Mr. Pringle died in 1911, but the company name continued in use into the late 1910s during the First World War. Circa 1911, the firm had branches at Sudbury, Elk Lake, Haileybury, New Liskeard, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury and Porcupine. The aqua colouration suggests that the bottle was made prior to the 1910s. |
