The last owner, Owen Sound storekeeper Charles W. Lowther, told musuem staff that these spectacles came from the George D. McLauchlan McLauchlan Estate. George's father, James McLauchlan, was a 19th-century businessman and politician in Owen Sound, Ontario, who created the "McLauchlan & Sons Biscuit company. Mr. Lowther acquired a number of items that had formerly belonged to George D. McLauchlan, likely at a sale. |
