Description |
Four gold coloured transfers on white paper. Used on cutters or buggies c.1886 - 1900 by William McKinley, Bognor blacksmith (see notes written in pen on back of white paper). |
Provenance |
This item originally belonged to William McKinley, a Bognor, Grey County blacksmith. He was married to Mary McKinley (neé Penner) of Bognor. They later moved to the Holland Centre area. Subsequently owned by their daughter, Beatrice McDonald (neé McKinley), who married Peter McDonald, a farmer, in 1926, and lived in Grey County, Ontario. Beatrice McDonald later lived at Chatsworth, Ontario. She likely was also related to Wm. McKinley Sr. (b. 1819 in Scotland) and his wife Beatrice McKinley (b. 1829 in Scotland). This older couple had emigrated in 1856. They were in the 1901 census, as were her parents. |
