One of two Ardiel Bros. apple crates from Thornbury. This one has a fainter black stencilling, and has "PROPERTY OF ARDIEL BROS. / THORNBURY, ONT." stencilled. The nailed wooden crate has two elliptical hand holds for lifting it. |

Used by the Ardiel Brothers orchard (Lewis, Charlie & Blair Ardiel) who were apple growers, and who also stored and packed apples at Thornbury, using the "Indian River Apples" brand. They sold their apples mainly through the National Grocers and Loblaws grocery store chains. Last owned by Brad Johnston of Barbetta Orchards, RR#1 Meaford (former St. Vincent Township). |
