Long, black, back-zippered evening gown with triple spaghetti straps that go from top of bodice, over shoulder to back of dress on each side. Made by/for D'Allairds - label affixed to interior. |

Made for/by D'Allairds. An early 20th-century item. The last owner, Bessie Newman, told museum staff that it had belonged to someone in the Witherspoon family (her husband's maternal relations). The Witherspoons had a farm at Jackson, Grey County (west of Owen Sound). Jessie, Anne, Lillian, Maud, Walter, Dave, Jim and Peter were members of the family. |
