Function |
A letterpress printer's advertising "cut". This one was used at the MARKDALE STANDARD newspaper office in Grey County. Similar cuts were likely also at other newspaper offices in Grey County and elsewhere, wherever the Knights of Meaford company needed to print their advertisements. They were a hardwood flooring company. Letterpress printing declined in the 1960s. The advertisement has a telephone number that pre-dates the mid-1960s when seven-digit telephone numbers were introduced in this area. |
