No marks on the shaker, but it fits a THERMOS brand picnic set case. |
Provenance |
Manufactured by Thermos Limited, in England. The brand began in 1904, as Thermos GmbH. In 1907, it was sold to three companies: The American Thermos Bottle Company of Brooklyn, the Thermos Limited company of Tottenham, England, and the Canadian Thermos Bottle Company Limited of Montreal. Likely dates to the 1910s. Violet Toms (née Krause) could not remember when this item was acquired. It was likely first owned by Cecil Toms' parents. It then belonged to Cecil Toms of Owen Sound, Grey County, whose family farmed in Sydenham Township for many years. He was married to Violet Toms of Williamsford, Grey County. In the 1930s, he owned and operated Toms' Garage and Service Station in Owen Sound. Last owned by David Toms of Owen Sound. |
