Description |
Canadian Red Cross "10" and "CANADA" blood drop shaped metal lapel pin. It has a hinged pinstem and ball catch. It has a darkened pewter colour cast metal front with a red enamelled cross. It was awarded to a blood donor upon completion of the individual's tenth donation. The back side has tiny cast lettering: DIAMOND MONTREAL. |

Manufactured in Montreal. The date is uncertain, but this type of metal pin was used more broadly within the Canadian Red Cross mainly in the 1940s-early 1950s, early in the history of the CRC Blood Service. Unknown provenance after it left Montreal. This example was found as memorabilia at the Owen Sound / Bruce-Grey branch of the Canadian Red Cross when the office closed in 2018. It was located at 1041 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound. Last owned by the Canadian Red Cross National Office. |
