Description |
Framed painting on board of five desciduous trees in the foreground in full autumn colour (yellows an golds). There is a path behind them and rolling autumn hills in the background. There is an indeterminite white structure on the left and a split rail fence on the right. The frame is painted an ivory white colour and has notched corners. The back of the board is painted ivory and there are two metal eyes (one screwed in to each side) with a hanging wire. |

Painted by Alan Campbell (1888-1976) sometime between 1908 and his death in 1976. Likely a scene in Owen Sound. Alan was married to Owen Sound artist Flo Campbell (m. 1914). Flo's grandson, Tim O'Day, of Hamburg, New York, owned this piece and kept it in his home until September 2022. Flo and Alan Campbell are buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Owen Sound, Grey County. |
