Description |
White ceramic, key-wound, mantel clock, with transfer-printed designs of florals and a village scene under the face and embellished with gilt. There is a scene of a house at the left, and a windmill at the right. It has a trademark of an "A" in a square and tilted square = Ansonia Clock Co. Inside is "Ansonia Clock Company, New York, Pat. June 18, 1882." It still has its brass pendulum, marked "S" and "F" (slow and fast). The pendulum is round, and has an inset thumb wheel. The gilding is in various areas for embellishment. |

Previously owned by Mrs. William Hewitson, who resided in Owen Sound, Ontario in 1962. She did not provide any information about the original ownership and age of this item. The clock was manufactured at Brooklyn, New York by the Ansonia Clock Co. The previous owner suggested that it was circa 1887? The patent date inside is June 18, 1882. |
