Provenance |
Made by the Dominion Glass Company. It post-dates 1928, the year the Dominion Glass Co. began using its diamond-D mark. Custom-ordered/used by the Crystal Dairy Company of Derby, Grey County (prop. Alexander Johnston), which started in 1924, delivering milk to the west side residents of Owen Sound. It later relocated to a new dairy building in the city of Owen Sound (at 10th Street West). Collected by Glen Stephens of Williamsford, Grey County, at an unknown date. His estate was auctioned in the fall of 2017. Grey Roots Museum purchased this piece from the first of his estate auctions on September 16, 2017. |

Function |
A re-usable unit container for milk, used by the Crystal Dairy business of Owen Sound. It would be delivered by a milk man to a customer, and then the empty bottle would be returned to the dairy to be sterilized and refilled. It would use a printed cardboard bottle top insert to seal it each time. |
