Description |
Hand-cranked pencil sharpener advertising the McLauchlan & Sons company. It is designed to be mounted on a desk or counter. The handle assembly (A) has a square-shaped bracket attachment area secured by two drilled holes (now empty). The frame of the sharpener has a bright green finish. The crank handle has a small, black-finished wooden grip knob. The removable receptacle (B) for storing the pencil shavings has two metal sides and a flexible, thin plastic or celluloid wall to it. This flexible area is printed in black with "McLAUCHLAN & SONS / CO. LIMITED / Wholesale Grocers / OWEN SOUND, ONTARIO". There is also a black-printed trademark for "CHICAGO", and "MADE IN U.S.A. / PATENTED ". There is a list of patent dates visible, one of which is 1916. |
