Description |
One of a group of six hand-carved Holstein cows. The cow has a lightly-finished, and bevelled rectangular base that it is glued to. The cow is painted black and white, and has black teats at her white udder. She has nail head metal eyes. The underside is signed by the carver in ballpoint ink. |

Provenance |
Made between 1961-1981 by James Erskine Horton Brown, a retired dairy farmer from Derby Township, Grey County, who moved in May, 1959 to Thornbury, Grey County. He was usually known as Erskine Brown. The last owner, Randy Moore, used to work for Norm Brown (son of Erskine Brown) at Norm and Pat Brown's dairy farm and received this carving, and others, as a gift. |
