| Description | A rectangular commemorative item, made of salvaged wrought iron nails sand and cardboard? The sand nails were adhered to the cardboard in a cross configuration and framed in a wooden rectangular frame in 2001. | 
| Provenance | Unknown maker. The nails were formerly used in the construction of the Leith Presbyterian Church. Its first service was held on Sunday, January 26, 1866. These nails were in the Leith Church during the restoration of the interior, Spring, 2001. The sand is from the Water O' Leith, which flows behind the pioneer cemetery. The item was made? saved? by the "Friends of the Leith Church" group, and Donna McKay-Mills collected it from them after July 30, 2001. Donna is descended from the Hugh and Jeanette McKay family, who farmed one mile north of Leith. The McKays attended the church, and most of the family are buried in the adjacent churchyard. This church later became the Leith United Church after church union in 1925. |
