Description |
A printing plate with Roy Fleming's illustration of the potash factory, the "Ashery at Ashery Creek" in the former Derby Township (Ashley post office area). The plate is irregular in shape at its edges. The illustration shows a man standing near a two fire structure, that has two round areas at its top (these are the tops of two cast iron potash kettles). Nearby are three wooden leaching bins on raised legged platforms, with buckets at the ends to catch the leach fluid. There is a wooden building in the background, with a small four-paned window. |

Roy Franklin Fleming of Kilsyth, Derby Township, Grey County, apparently was the creator/illustrator of this item. The item was also cast and used in Owen Sound by the R-B-W printing business of C. A. Fleming (a relative of his). The image was first published in 19__. It was last owned by Ruth H. Lamour (neé Fleming) of Carleton Place, Ontario. |
