Description |
This is a primitive-looking barrel chair. It was made by altering a staved barrel. The chair has red and white and leafy green floral cushioning on it. Nails were used to hold the fabric in place. A light varnish was added. Crossed twine supports the seat area. There are three metal hoops below the seat. The boards on the bottom are doubly-thick near the front to give the chair a slight tilt backwards. The underside is probably made from a piece of a shipping crate. Visible is a hand-painted "H Mc"? a stencilled black "EK" and below it, a hand-painted "Soun" (probably originally read Owen Sound). |
